Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a growth process through which individuals are helped in a safe, caring, and confidential environment—to explore their feelings, beliefs, or behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change.

People seek therapy for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma, to dealing with depression or anxiety, to simply desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge. A client and therapist may work together for as few as five or six sessions or as long as several years, depending on the client’s unique needs and personal goals for therapy.

Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is a type of relationship counseling that focuses on interpersonal issues experienced by two individuals in a committed relationship. This can be long or short-term counseling depending on the issues involved but tends to focus primarily on emotional issues that are harming the relationship.

Family Therapy

Family therapy works with families to nurture change and development. It tends to view change in terms of the systems of interaction between family members. It emphasizes family relationships as an important factor in psychological health.

Groups

Groups are a wonderful way to enhance the growth process. What starts out as a group of strangers often becomes an amazing support system over time. The beauty of a group is that it is confidential and becomes a safe space for our journey inside to our most intimate and sacred thoughts and feelings. Groups can help us grow by our sharing the parts of ourselves we have been ashamed to let anyone else see. This is what allows us to heal. They also have the advantage of allowing us to receive different perspectives and feedback from others. Whether we are outspoken or remain silent, we can glean information about the given topic - often having "aha" moments without seeming to participate. This is the magic and strength of groupwork.

Online Therapy

E-therapy or online therapy can be a convenient, cost-effective, and discreet approach to traditional therapy. For some, even admitting they need help can be tough. They could be resistant to it or afraid that family members or friends will find out. Either way, that first step can be hard. There is evidence that under-served populations -- either because of where they live or their reasons for not coming in person -- have benefited from E-therapy. You don't have to travel, either, which makes online therapy a good choice for some people with disabilities, too. Ask if this would be the right fit for you. An initial in-person appointment would be needed.
